Not Happy, Jan... (that's a very Aussie statement, isn't it? LOL.) +WARNING: this will be a VERY image heavy post!

So before I make my happy Snoopy dance post, I have to have a bit of a rant/whinge. One thing that I've come to realise that I don't like about living here is (and yes, this is a big sweeping generalisation) the attitude of this inflated sense of entitlement that people seem to have. I had a slight altercation this morning with another mother who decided it was OK for her to push in in the (very long) queue that extended outside the Kids' Museum before storytime (a 30 minute weekly program for toddlers. First in, best dressed for tickets, hence the queue) for whatever reason. Now, I will be the first to admit that I'm not the friendliest person; I've said that a lot. But I don't think I go around blatantly disregarding societal rules and just general respect for others on the bloody street. In the three months that we've been here, I believe I've lost count of how many people I've seen push in in queues, in traffic, park in front of garages and double park without any consideration for others. Perfect example: we went out last week. Robert opened our garage door (which has multiple big signs saying DO NOT PARK on the front of it) and some Amazon delivery guy had parked right in front of it, blocking our path. He hadn't even tried to leave some space. After waiting for quite a while without his return, Robert got out and tried to find him. A while later, he came meandering down the street (wasn't even delivering to our apartment block). He barely acknowledged Robert, casually got into his van to give us space, then parked RIGHT IN FRONT of the other garage door to the other carpark in our block. WHAT EVEN?!?!?!?!

This just would not happen in Sydney. And if it does, it's a very rare occasion. It happens ALL THE TIME HERE. And perhaps it's after having a string of not-so-great weeks, but I'm at my wits' end over it. Why is it so hard to just have general respect for others these days???? Yes, freedom is lovely, and we should all be free to live a happy life. But I don't think that that should be IN PLACE OF having a general respect for the other people we need to co-exist with. I hate that this often happens with other mothers/carers as well; I hate what this attitude is teaching my child/our children about how to treat other people. No, it's not OK to not wait your turn or to block others where you clearly shouldn't. Perhaps Australia and Aussies in general are more laid back, but this general attitude is getting to me so much at the moment. What has happened to society that people can be so goddamn selfish??? Like I often say, Australia's definitely not perfect, but I miss the laid back attitude of Australia right now... makes me just want to fly home for a while and just... relax. It's funny how people can be so friendly yet so horrible at the same time.

ANYWAY, that being said, I have been wanting to post a HAPPY post about our trip to the SCHULZ MUSEUM last weekend. As a big Snoopy fan, I'm surprised that it took us three months to get to the place, but hey, we made it! We took a 90 minute one way trip to get there. The drive wasn't too bad: it was through some countryside-ish places, and it was interesting seeing the sweeping landscape that had similarities but many differences to Australia's landscape. The plains here just seem so much bigger... and I felt like a twister could have descended on us at any minute! Bit scary!

The Schulz Museum: a whole room of strips! =D

But once we got there, I was in Snoopy heaven! HAHA! The place was just decked out with Peanuts images and big figures. We were greeted by a bigger-than-lifesize Snoopy sleeping on his house. Across the road from the museum was the Warm Puppy Grill (can you get a cuter name for a cafe?!), the Peanuts themed ice skating rink and the AMAZING souvenir shop (which I think I spent more time in than the museum itself!). I could live there!!

Unfortunately, we didn't even get to see the whole museum as our toddler got hungry and we ran out of time. But the place is such a lovely dedication to an artist who has made a big impact on my little life. Peanuts is relatively popular in Australia, but I feel like it's really a household name here. LOVE IT! Here are some pictures. I believe they can say more about our day than I can in words!

An original sketch!!

Charlie Brown's kite stuck in a tree. Love it!!

Brings back so many memories. One of my favourite Peanuts cartoons as a child was an episode where Peppermint Patty's music for her skating performance dies, so Woodstock gets up and whistles it for her. <3

True work of art. Haha!!
The shop!!!! And in the end, I only walked out with a blanket, a book for the toddler and a water bottle for the toddler! I was impressed by my self control! LOL.

The place was/is amazing. I could live there. It's totally worth living here for its sake and putting up with all the crap I whinged about above. Haha! The only disappointing thing being that they didn't have soy milk for my coffee. But I managed. ;-)
