In continuing on with blogging about things we did when Mum was here, I thought I'd post some pictures from our trip to Golden Gate Park. On the day we went, we had intended on going (back) to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. We'd tried earlier in the week, but it was SO busy (being the weekend of July 4th and all) that we didn't really see much, nor did we hang around for very long. We were going to take Mum on the cable car, but the queue was probably a two hour wait or so. And with a toddler, that would have been impossible! So we walked back home and drove to Golden Gate Park. We'd been there briefly on our two week trip in December, but the place is huge and there are lots of separate things to do in there, so we'd only seen a tiny amount of it. We took Mum to the Japanese Tea House and garden, then went to the general Botanic Garden. Mum likes gardens, so I think she had a good time. :-)
They were very pretty, and it's nice to have some nice gardens in the middle of a city. I was a bit disappointed not to have been able to get more food at the tea house, but the little sandwiches and tea that we had were quaint. And the garden itself was beautiful. It would take so much maintenance, I can't even begin to imagine! I think one of the gardeners said they have to trim the trees everyday. I can't even take care of a little pot plant. LOL.
The general Botanic Garden across the road was in different sections based on the countries the plants were from. It was funny and nice to see an Aussie section. Mum also got some good sightings of local squirrels. One of the nicest things about the place, though, was that they had pianos around the place. I think anyone could sit down and play them, but most of them had someone playing who actually knew how to play! It was really nice wandering around with some piano music playing in the background. :-)
I wanted to take mr toddler to the playground in GG Park once we'd exited the botanic garden, but he was so tired and grumpy, we had to head home.
Anyway, in my laziness, I'm just going to post some pictures again. Robert's still in Sydney (comes back on Friday), and I'm struggling through parenting alone! Haha. So I'm more tired than I usually am!
xoxo
